We’ve tested paper-hybrid and aluminum alternatives, but our 100% recycled PET solution currently provides the best balance of sustainability, performance, and premium appeal.
Yes, in the premium segment it is for sure. GRO’s packaging is made from 100% recycled PET and engineered to reduce transport emissions by 40–60% compared to standard PET, glass, or paper/plastic-hybrid bottles. Additionally, the bottles can be blown on-site at the bottling facility, eliminating an entire transportation step. While flexible pouches or soft flat bottles may offer slightly lower CO₂ footprints, they fall short in delivering a premium consumer experience. In contrast, even lightweight glass uses 500–900% more energy in production and doubles the emissions during transport.
Our priority is overall sustainability, with carbon footprint reduction at the core. All grains used in GRO are sourced from local farms committed to sustainable practices, with traceability down to specific fields. Transporting organically certified grain—often requiring more frequent and intensive farming—would increase emissions and compromise our sustainability goals.
While we are actively exploring paper-hybrid packaging innovations, the current GRO bottle remains superior in carbon efficiency. Made from 100% recycled PET, our bottle eliminates the need for empty bottle transport and is designed to fit 30–100% more units per pallet, greatly reducing logistical emissions. Absolutely. Our distillery operates in a repurposed historic mill, powered entirely by a local water stream. This renewable source generates all the electricity and cooling water needed for production. Additionally, GRO uses pure spring water drawn directly from an ancient local well, further reinforcing our commitment to sustainability.
